ERIC WILLIAMS Psy D, RCC (#18346)

Pleased to meet you. Here is a little bit about me.

The person: I am first and foremost a proud husband, parent, and family member. I enjoy connecting with nature, catching activities with friends, and on occasion when it fits between the pragmatic parts of life (taking the garbage out/ picking Lego up off of the floor...) reacquainting with my blues guitar.

The professional: I hold a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and am a Registered Clinical Counsellor. I completed my pre-doctoral residency with a health/medical emphasis at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital in St. John’s, NL before returning home to Victoria where I was born and raised. I currently run a private practice seeing individuals and couples, and am a Clinical Instructor within the Faculty of Medicine for the University of British Columbia.

Experience: For more than 14 years I have provided individual and/ or couples therapy in private practice, community outreach, university settings, and hospitals. I also have served as an instructor with the Interprofessional Mental Health and Addictions post-degree program at Camosun College, overseeing student training and research initiatives.

The process: Helping others find their best path when facing difficulty is something I have always found rewarding. I am continually inspired by the strengths each person brings to their journey. I'm also aware that change can be hard - it requires both art and science. As such, I make an effort to better understand how a person or couple’s wellness can be supported in its entirety. The mind and body connect, and addressing this is key. I pull from several theoretical approaches to ensure that effective work can take place.

Through my experiences I have learned the importance of intention, kindness, and respect. Life is often more difficult than it is easy. Wherever you are, I will join you with competence and caring as you seek your best definition of wellness. Some visits may be focused, others may have laughter or tears. Throughout, I will bring a genuine desire to help you get where you would like to go.

Appointments: Virtual (phone or Jane video) and in-person, depending on your needs.
